Re: parent gifts?
we are giving out parents albums too.
We also got each set of parents a personalized 8x10 frame from Things Remembered that says WIth Love Always at the top and out names and wedding date at the bottom and then we will give them an 8x10 wedding photo.
I got my mom the Lenox A Mother's touch figurine.
We got the dad personalized beer boots, and I got my dad a personalized stainless steel cigar tube.
HTH!!

Re: parent gifts?
I am getting a spa certficate to Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas for the moms. They deserve a nice massage after this is all over!
For the dads, we paid for their tuxedo rentals. I am giving my dad a handkerchief with the first initial of our last name on it, which he will likely be using to wipe my mom's tears all through the ceremony

I'm just curious to understand what the gifts are for? Is it just like a christmas thing where you buy gifts for each other or it for a thank you if they contribute?

I'm only giving gifts to my parents because they are the only ones who have helped us out. I'm not going crazy either (mostly cause i'm out of money at this point) but FH parents haven't done anything, so they won't get anything... hth

My parents deserve something, they've been letting FH and I live in their house for free!!!! My parents have been so good to me over the years that it's the least I could do.

Re: parent gifts?
All of our parents are divorced, my parents spilt the cost of our wedding, so this is what we gave to them:
Mom & Stepdad - gift certificate for a dinner cruise around Manhattan
Mom - Brighton charm bracelet with my birthstone, my DH's birthstone, and the 'mom' charm
Dad & Stepmom - gift certificate for a dinner cruise around San Francisco harbor (they live in CA)
FIL - A fossil watch engraved with 7-29-11 Love, Nancy & Brian
MIL - Brighton charm bracelet with my birthstone, my DH's birthstone, SIL's birthstone and the 'mom' charm
It would have been 1000 times easier if everyone wasn't divorced LOL

FH and I are giving our parents albums as well. In addition, I got my parents something extra (FH is doing the same for his 'rents though I don't know what he is getting them).
As my dad is a chef, and his b-day is two days after my wedding day, and my mom is an amazing cook too, I got them a Calphalon cookware set. That's honestly, mostly for my dad though, so I also got my mom a vintage-y monogram necklace.
Great deals thanks to ebates/coupons/sales .

Re: parent gifts?
I purchased picture frames for the mothers. I may also get them each a pashima shawl. For the dads, they got cufflinks.
Like someone else mentioned, running out of money fast. Especially with getting laid off 5 months before the wedding. It's a good thing I had the majority of items purchased already.

We ended up purchasing what they wore for the day of - so for the mom's their dresses, and the dad's got fancy shmancy suits.
