Parenting Book Recommendation?

I would like to know if any of the mom's liked a particular parenting book after the baby was born, like from newborns to toddlers or something like that? I'd like to get it for a friend who just had a baby yesterday.

does this sound crazy? what about a child psych textbook? I kept mine from college thinking it might come in handy later...although its from the early 90s and probably outdated...

Not crazy at all.

I thought the BTDT mom's would have suggestions but I didn't get any, so I ordered What to Expect in the 1st Year and The Girlfriend's Guide to Life after the Baby (or something like that) from Amazon.

Stacey, I'm so sorry - I didn't see this post!

I would have DEFINITELY recommended the Parenting Series (by the publishers of Parenting Magazine) - someone gave us the Infant edition as a gift, and we loved it SO MUCH that we just recently bought ourselves the Toddler edition.
