As we always do on this board, let's respect each other's opinions.
How old is too old for your child of the opposite sex to see Mommy or Daddy naked?

Re: Parenting question of the day
I will be the first to answer my own question. I have no idea. I was changing in front of Lukie the other day and he was really looking at me...oddly (real or imagined?) It's sort of unavoidable to an extent when you have to bring your young child into a public bathroom but as far as changing in front of them, I dont know so I am very curious about everyone's feedback. When do they really notice the 'differences'?

Re: Parenting question of the day
I don't know if there is an exact answer to this, but for me, the day Justin put 2 rolls on his chest and said 'LOOK Mommy 1,2 Boobs'. I made sure I was dressed befaore getting out of the shower

Heather, LMAO!!!!
Liz, I don't know how to answer that because yesterday I plopped Gianna in her bouncer in front of the bathroom and when I came out of the shower she was just looking at me and I got all paranoid!!! Hello, what the heck does she know, but it made me all self-conscious!!!

Re: Parenting question of the day
Deb you have me hysterical... Heather, thats tooo cute!
I dont know what the age is either. Im just not a 'running around naked' type of person, and if he's in the room, he's distracted and playing with the alarm clock or something, so Ive never really noticed any odd stares
Its really up to a parents discretion I guess. Im sure theres a 'suggested age' by the professionals out there.

Heather
I don't really have an answer yet, but I think I'll just know when Nicky's too old... The boob comment that Justin made or something similiar will probably be my wake up call!

Re: Parenting question of the day
Thats a very good question!!!
I wish I had the answer. Being that I dont want to show Emma that there is anything to be ashamed of with her body I think its fine until she is 4 or 5 BUT with that same thinking I dont want her to think its ok for her to show other people (strangers and BOYS!!!!) her body. AHHHHHHH... I dont have an answer BUT I KNOW FH will stop being naked in front of her LONG before I do.

Re: Parenting question of the day
I think it depends are your own level of comfort. At the YMCA there is a sign on the locker rm. door that no boy over the age of 4 is allowed in the ladies room and vice versa. Many women change in the adult only area. Since it is the only carpeted area, many moms use it to sit their infants down while they change. They are only 6-18 months old and cannot stand alone against the bench on the tile floor. People still complain that kids should not be in that area since women are naked. This opened my eyes to how different people can view nudity.

Wow I never thought about this.
Same as Deb when I get out of the shower Damien looks at me too. I think he is mostly thinking food when he looks at my boobs

Re: Parenting question of the day
There are some people who do not believe that the naked body should be covered or hidden. I am not sure what I think just yet. Right now, my baby needs my breasts for food so....

Re: Parenting question of the day
This question make me remember the movie on lifetime of the aunt that took those pix of the kids naked and they were taken away from the mother b/c it was seen as porn. I have always seen my mother naked. I was never afraid of my body maybe that was one lesson, I don't know how she balanced it so that I wasn't showing everyone else That is a wait and see one for sure
