Parents at table?

Parents at table?

I heard that the Bride's and Groom's parents are supposed to sit at the same table for the reception. Is this true?

No! That's crazy. Each of your parents will get a 'head' table, where the closest people to them (and usually, you - siblings, grandparents, etc) sit.

Ive never heard of that either! My parents and FH's parents are going to be seated at tables up front closest to the dais (sp?)

I had never heard of it either. We decided that we would like our parents to sit with us though and they were thrilled.

We had his parents and BM, who is single, on one side. On the other side was My mother and brother-in-law, who gave me away and my two MOH's (my sister and one who is single).

My parents are divorced so their def not sitting at the same table...my FI's parents are sitting at the separate table with his aunts and uncles.

Actually at Irish weddings, the bride and groom are seated in the middle of a long table, bridal party, parents of both the groom and the bride and the officiant are ALL seated at the same table and usually the long table is situated on a podium style area and all your 'subjects' are seated at round tables on front of you.....that may be where you heard the parents at table story.....

there are no rules or 'supposed to's' they can sit wherever!
