OUR LOVE!! No, I'm kidding.... seriously we don't have any money for gifts and we aren't even giving each other gifts so this is very difficult for us and we so wish we could do more.

Well, we are getting them parent albums, which they don't know about so that's a surprise. I am also write each of them a really heartfelt letter to read on the day of the wedding.

I am still trying to think of other things we can do that won't cost alot of $$$....

I want to get my mom something really nice too! But I have no good ideas. She already has everything I can think of.
Maybe you can get them gift certificates to a bed& breakfast for a mini vacation?

Aside from the parent albums, FH wanted something they could display so we are getting these with the wording of the invitation engraved...

This is something we are pondering also. Since we are giving them their parent albums and a copy of the video, I thought maybe a nice engraved frame from things remembered would be an idea. I would put some sort of poem about parents and then later, they can put our wedding picture in it . . .

i was thinking about a travel coupon for the parents. i don't know how much or if i can even do something like that. i know my parents would use it, they go on a cruise just about every year (they are tooo spolied), but ii don't think my fil's will appreciate it.

Re: Parents Gifts

Fh and i are sending them away on a weekend get away. My parents anniversary is in October so we want them to go away and relax for a few days. I have driven them crazy with the whole wedding stresses.

Re: Parents Gifts

We actually took our parents away for the weekend- but we went too. Neither or our parents needs anymore 'stuff'- and they go out and buy whatever they need/want anyway, but they always say that they don't have enough time to spend with US. So, we figured that a little quick getaway might be really nice.

We actually did it last month- early- because we also did it with both sets of parents (we're lucky that they get along) and they all really, really, loved it.

Now, you could also do seperate weekends with each set of parents. Or overnight trips. IT also depends on how well you get along with your parents...

All that I can tell you is that our parents were SOOOO grateful and LOVED the idea.

Re: Parents Gifts

I'm not going to be much help. We live in LA, so we took them to Santa Barbara and for all of us it was kind of pricey. We stayed over one night, so it was 3 hotel rooms for one weekend, lunch, dinner, breakfast and another lunch. I think when all was said and done it was about $600- for ALL of us. BUT- SB is expensive to stay!!!

I'm sure that you can do it cheaper on LI. Even if you just drove out Sat morning- had lunch somewhere, then dinner and a hotel room. Breakfast the next day would be optional.

Re: Parents Gifts

we are stuck with this one right now...

for FH's parents, the groomsmen are all chipping in and giving $$$ and a card to FH's parents for getting all the tuxes. my mother has worked so hard for a half a year (she made all the dresses and centerpieces) and we want to do something special like send my parents on a trip. however, we don't want to present something like this now cause #1 we are broke, and #2 it would be an unequal distribution, and the presentation would be uncomfortable. so we are stuck for now, but need to come up with SOMETHING in the next 3 weeks!

i need some ideas!!!!!!

Re: Parents Gifts

I was just looking online to getting them a gift certificate to a broadway show in the city and I know that both parents like Carmines, so I was also going to do a GC to that as well.

I'm still undecided myself.

We had parents albums made with inscriptions on them. And I'm thinking of doing these:
