Parent's Gifts Question

I was just thinking (yes, it happens occasionally... Heather, lol) I was wondering who do we give Parents Gifts to... (I know that sounds like a 'Duh' question). But are these gifts for the parents for helping us with the wedding, or are they gifts for like thanks for being my parent?

My parents are footing the entire wedding bill. My FH's mom has yet to even offer to contribute and he only started talking to his dad again (after a like 15 year break) a few months ago when our daughter was a couple months old. Since then we became close with FFIL and his wife. But our relationship is in it's infancy with them and they also won't be contributing to the wedding.

So really my question is should we get presents for just my mom and dad since no one else is helping us?

We had to ask the same question when we were trying to figure out who to give gifts to. Between my father and my IL's about 3/4 of our wedding was covered so we wanted to acknowledge them. My mom really wasn't into helping plan the wedding (she planned the shower but complained about it a lot).
We ended up getting my dad and ILs something nice and my mom got a bouquet of flowers. We gave the gifts out at the RD so instead of saying they were for helping pay for the wedding we just said there were some people who needed to be acknowledged.

this is a great question.. my mom is hands on (maybe a little to hands on at times) and fh's family is full of empty promises. literally..

i dont particularly plan on buying them ANYTHING.. but i cna't stop him if he wants to.. but i ain't signing the card.

Great question! My FH bought gifts (cufflinks and beer steins) for both Dad's (his and mine). And said to me, what did you get for the Moms?

So I went online and bought gifts.... I got his mom a picture frame and my mom a snow globe. FYI- we are paying for the wedding.... So I guess it's just a 'thanks for being there for me'.
