I thought it would be better to post on this board, this a question for all the homeowners, we are in the process of buying our first home and we are in a co-op now, we are purchasing this house dependant on both our salaries, not every penny but close enough. Now that this is becoming so real with signing contracts - how could we think of starting a family, I would like to start 1 - 2 years from now and I am soo scared and don't think we could manage it on one salary. But we couldn't have a baby in our one bedroom SMALL co-op either. Anyone go through this?

Re: Parents / Homeowner question...
I think a lot of people worry about this and starting out, most of us need more money. But I honestly think, that it can and does get easier.
I would say follow your heart and do what you and DH feel is right! I know of a lot of people that didn't think they could afford life on one salary but with lots of cutting corners, they do! There are raises and hopefully promotions (if the economy cooperates), which may make less of a burden on you both and there so many wonderful mothers that still work full time, if you both do need to work.
There really never is the 'right' time to do anything ... you just make it 'right' according to your situation!
Good Luck!

I agree with CIRA. Only the both of you know when the right time is, you'll feel it. As for us since we've been together for over 10 years it's been a little different. We got married almost 3 years ago and the week after our honeymoon moved into our house. We then decided to wait 2 years until TTC, which we did. I will not be going back to work after our bean is born, but we've been planning and saving since before we were TTC. That's was just us. It all worked out for us and is right for us, this is not the case for everyone else. You'll know...
