NO WAY!!! well, I'm not so surprised really . .. why'd they break up?
I'm a lawyer, but I don't do this area of law so I'm not sure. . . . however, I believe legally he gets the ring back because it is considered a 'gift in contemplation of marriage' and if the wedding doesn't happen, it belongs to him.
If the wedding had happened and they later divorced, she would've gotten to keep the ring.

Doesn't she know etiquette? She claims to have broken it off, so she has to give it back.

And I think if he proposed on her birthday or something, it could be considered a regular old gift & then she could keep it.

I'm no lawyaer, but I would think that an e-ring is kind of like a contract that you're agreeing to marry someone. If you don't get married, the ring really shouldn't be yours to keep.

Anytime on Judge Judy they say who ever broke off the engagment has to give the ring back... If she broke it off he gets it. If he broke it off she keeps it.

This is what I had heard-but...in court it doesnt hold up! Etiquette is that if the engagement is called of the ring goes back to the giver...if it was given on birthday, christmas, anniversary he can be seen as a gift but technically if the buck is pushed it still goes back to the giver.
On E! they had alot of people saying naturally she will give the ring back-its proper etiquette...but what does he need the ring for and what does she need the ring for...they are both wealthy
Like I have said before and will say again-pass it to me I promise I will share it with you ladies!

Re: Paris' Ring!!!
NYS Law is that if he gave it to her on her b-day, v-day or xmas she gets the ring no matter who broke it off. it he gave it on any other day he gets the ring.

Especially considering SHE called it off. If he called it off she may have had a case.
I always wondered though if she bought it. I know he has tons of cash, but I think she returned the ones that he got her & bought this one herself

That is correct!
ETA: But - does that mean she keeps the canary diamond 'I love you' ring?? since it technically isnt her e-ring??

Yup, because that ring is not a 'contract'. The e-ring is based on a future marriage. If that marriage doesn't occur, she cannot keep the ring unless it was given to her, as others have stated, on a holiday, including her birthday. The other ring is a gift with no 'contract' attached to it.

Re: Paris' Ring!!!
Just as a point, why would anyone even contemplate keeping an e-ring on her finger when the wedding is cancelled? It's not like she wants to keep it and sell it because she 'needs' the money! She's more of an idiot than I thought if she really wants it.
Her sister, Nikki, pulled the same crap when her marriage ended. Yes, I guess she could keep it because they were already legally married, but supposedly the ring was a family heirloom that meant a lot to her ex, and she was reportedly a real brat about finally returning it.
