There was water on my desk when I came into work today. Not a lot, but quite a few drops. The cleaning crew never actually cleans our desks, and I'm not in the habit of hosing down my work station before I go home so the origin of this water is unknown.
I mention it to Crazy McCoworker and she says 'Oh, Voice-Like-A-Nailgun-Supervisor noticed that a week or so ago. She just wiped it up before you came in.' Gee, thanks for letting me know, asshats!
A few minutes later I leaned back in my chair to stretch and I notice there's a sprinkler directly above my desk. That's right folks, that sprinkler, and only that spinkler, leaks!! But evidently, only at night and only every few weeks, and even then, not that much. I've been here 3 years, and only now does VLANS decide to tell me this.
Crazy McCoworker then tried to cheer me up by saying they discovered proof of the Loch Ness Monster.
No, really. No. Really.

Look, you're all being ridiculous:
Firstly, you can't toast marshmallows over burning flesh because it doesn't smolder enough. Duh!
Secondly, Plastic covers, shower caps and water balloons are all just silly... everyone knows I'll spend the rest of my tenure at this 'job' holding a frilly pink parasol over my head.
Maybe you can get one of those hats with the umbrella attached on top so you can be hands-free.

P.S. Word on the water. Cover your desk in plastic at night. Not only will it be dry, but everyone will think you are so insane they will leave you alone! Maybe one of those huge plastic car covers? And start calling your desk your pimped out ride?
maybe bring a water spritzer and go around the office 'getting even' ...
