not to long ago some one ran a post about the post office and pass ports... now does this sound right??? 55.00 passport fee 12.00 security search 30.00 us post office fee (????) total 97.00 12.00 if you want the post office to take your pic total 109.00 is that how it allways was???

I know the $55 and the $30 are right... I also think I spent over $100, so I would say.... I have no clue. BUT I know its cheaper to get the photo taken at a photomat.

If you go to the post office it is 97 a piece. Plus pictures and they are 12 each.

If you go to an Eckerd's, the picture runs about $8. The $97 is about right - I got a new passport three years ago and it cost a little less than that.

This is why I am waiting until December to get the passport!!! Too much money to shell out between now and then!!
I have the application for a passport on my desk here and it says $97. So I take it that's correct. I couldn't believe the cost was that high either!!!

I just got my passport a few months ago and it was $97 at the post office. Its actually $67, but the PO adds their processing fee of $30.

I am so sorry if this message is a bit late but those fees are NOT correct that you originally posted. The company you are trying to get the passport from will charge EXTRA security and processing fees.
We just renewed my sweetheart's passport because we are going to Paris next month so I definitely know what the fees are.
*** If this is a first time passport, you can get it cheaper by going DIRECTLY through the government. Also if you have AAA auto club, you can get passports and applications for free and apply in person or mail it in.
If you need an expedited service (faster than the usual 6-8 weeks) then you have to pay more. All of the info is here:
