FH and I both do not have a passport (shows how much we leave the country..my BC has stamps from Cancun ..ahh spring break)
Anyway, what is the process of getting one? Do you need to go to the post office? If so what do you bring with you?

Re: Passport
you have to get paperwork from the post office... then you have to get passport photos taken... you need an original birth certificate and i think thats it... the post office will tell you exactly what you need

Re: Passport
I just got mine recently- I would suggest you print and fill out the application from this site. It will explain the rest. I think I paid like $100 for it and like Ang said you need your original birth certificate. You also need NYS ID and I brought my SS card. I went to CVS to get the pics done-had them in like 10 minutes. HTH
You can even DL the paperwork from the site and fill it out before you go. It's actually not that difficult to get.
ETA: I got my passport picture taken at the same place where I put in my application. (Grand Central post office)

Re: Passport
i printed the application online and brought that, my license, original birth certificate, and social security card. you need to give yourself a few months tho bc they mail your birth certificate away with the application and you have to wait to receive it back from them which takes FOREVER, but you're also gonna need it for your marriage license!

Re: Passport
I literally JUST came from the post office and I brought the online application, my 2 pictures I had taken at Walgreens, my birth certificate and my license. It cost $100 and they told me I'll have it in 3-4 weeks.
