Okay we have five months until our wedding and we need passports. My question is....when im traveling my last name will be changed because I will be married Should I fill out my information with my original last name, or do I use my married last name?
and if I use my original last name...do I have to reapply for another one and pay more money?

Are you leaving for your honeymoon right after you get married? If so, you're name won't be changed on any of the docs you provide to get the passport (ie. license and birth cert). You're passport will be in your maiden name as will your license, etc.
Then you come back and go through the fun of changing everything.

Yes apply for your passport with your maiden name since it won't be changed in any official documents yet. It's easier to change it than to deal with airport officials and immigration officials.

btw I think you should apply REAL SOON. We went 2-13 and are still waiting. They told us then it should be 6-8 weeks and 8wks was up 4-13. I called and now they are saying the wait is up to 14 weeks!!! If it does indeed take 14 weeks that brings you into Aug .

I went Feb 2 and got mine two weeks ago. FH hasn't gone at all and we're leaving in about 3 mos!! Starting to freak with him a bit, but he'll just have to fork over the extra $$ and get it expedited.

I keep threatening FH with the fact that he'll have to fork over much more $$$ to get it expedited. It's not working for me right now

You guys might have to expedite it. At this point, there are thousands of people going through the rush passport thing. Fh forced meto get mine when they first hinted at the mandatory passport thing. So we are se THANK GOD because my fam needs them now and they are having a really hard time getting them before 12 weeks.

Some general info on Passports:
There is a website www.travel.state.gov where you can check status of your application and I think also request forms. Phone # for questions is 877-487-2778 (7am to midnight!)
As of that site it is now taking 10 weeks to process applications (and 2 weeks for expedited). The 'up to 14 weeks' was told to me by the Hempstead Town Clerk. Besides the Post offices, you can go to the Hempstead Town clerk who also does the photos for you. They charge $30 to process and an extra $5 for the photos. Hrs are 8 to 4:45. Phone 516-812-3100 for questions.

i waited till the last minute.....and i forked over $180......its expensive to be a procrastinator!!!!!
it is good to know that if it comes down to the wire you have options (although expensive ones....)

i am assuming you already have a passport? if that's the case, just booked the ticket with your maiden name! you'll have no problems because it will match your driver's license and the ticket...
if you don't have a passport already, that will be problematic... because then you'll just get a passport with your maiden name and it will be one more thing you'll have to change when you go through the name change process!!

I agree with what's been said previously but when you change everything, if your passport is less than 1 year old you can change it w/o paying a new fee. If it's older, you have to pay the renewal fee. So when I try to change mine I get to pay the $67 nenewal fee for my barely 2 year old passport.
