Does anybody know the exact process, what needs to be done, and how long it takes to change one's last name and also apply it to the passport?
Are we supposed to do it after we get married? Before? Should I just wait until I get back to do everything?

to be honest.. if your going on you hm right after wedding id wait till u get back to change your name

crashing...you have to do it after your married. Once you change your name on your SS card & license, you will need to send the State Dept your old passport with your original marriage license, then a whole new passport is sent to you. if you got your old passport less than a year ago, they wont charge for a new passport (i believe). if you got your old passport 1+ years ago, you will need to pay the $100ish for a whole new one.
