Re: Passport Question
They are making an exception since they're so backed up. people flying from may31 to sept 30 can use birth cert if they dont receive passport in time. i dont know about us tho..i just miss that im oct 12. but i placed my order 3 weeks ago. hope i get it in time or they extend that exception

Re: Passport Question
I was at the post office this AM and they said regular processing is taking 3 months.
You should definitely get it by December, but get your application stuff in now!
I expedited mine. It should have taken about 4 weeks and it came in one week.

Re: Passport Question
Ditto on getting the passport info ASAP. I read on the Washington Post Web site that the rush should calm down in the fall and winter, so you may get your passport in the fall--beyond the usual processing time but in advance of your HM.

Re: Passport Question
While I have not had any problems, I also do not yet have my passport, which is the BIGGEST problem. I ordered the first week of April and thought everything would be fine for my July 23rd honeymoon, but so far I have nothing. They have not even processed me in the damn computer and I keep sending emails to them but I get nothing back. Next week is the two week mark, so then I can at least start calling and complaining.

Re: Passport Question
check out the state dept. site: travel.state.gov
they have info on the time for passports and how thigns are being backed up. i would definitely expedite the passport app, just in case, since they have been dealing with so many new passport applications cause of the change in thaw requiring them for foreign travel.

Re: Passport Question
It'll be in by now... or if you already have a passport and if you're just renewing it, it is very quick... about a week or two at most.

Re: Passport Question
We applied for ours 2 weeks ago for our November 12th honeymoon. We got the receipts in the mail yesterday from the US Department of State saying that they received our applications and are processing them. They told us 10-12 weeks tops so we didn't put a rush on it. I'm sure we'll get them by then. We aren't worried. You should be fine if you apply now for December!

Re: Passport Question
I ordered my passport earlier this week for my honeymoon November 1st. The lady at the post office said she didn't think I needed to rush it but I didn't want to chance it so I expedited it. If you are a worry wart like me then get it expedited!

Re: Passport Question
Right now it is taking 10-12 weeks for them to come in, so judge it by that.

Re: Passport Question
If you don't get it by November call your congress person. They will be able to expedite it for you at no cost.
