I posted this on other thread but not sure if people are going to see it. I want to order my passports now so we don't have problems but am I able to my married name on it even though we aren't married yet. We are going on our honeymoon 2 months after we get married and I don't want to have to worry about rushing it and my name will def. be changed by then. So I don't know if I am able to do that. Anyone know?

When FH filled his out he did it at the post office I might try to go there and ask... also I would assume that you could bring the marrige certificate as proof of name change if you have your madin name on it... Its a good question to look into... anyone who finds any answers please keep us posted

You have to apply in your maiden name and then when you have your marriage license you apply again for the name change....You have to pay another fee to change your name....I'm pretty sure this is how it works....HTH!!!

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. My mom keeps telling me to go ask. I figured once we get our marriage license that is when I would do it and change everything at the same time. I would just love to do it now. I am going to have to go down and ask this week.

I'm worried because passports are so backed up, FH applied for his months ago and it still hasnt come in...

That is what I am worried about happening. I am going to go talk to them this week and I think I am going to order both of ours and mine in my maiden name and then once we get our marriage license order it with my married name and if worse comes to worse I will have to use the one with my maiden name. This is so annoying.

I just read on the website if you are changing your name they don't charge you unless you want it rushed which I probably will do..lol And you have to send a copy of your marriage license and fill out a form.

we just met with a travel agent the other night who addressed this exact question...apparently you travel with your maiden name on your HM b/c passports take a while to get(4 months sometimes) and you must apply for one with your actual name at the time...hope this was helpful

Ok so it is good to get one now and then I will apply for one and then rush it and if I don't get it in time I will just use the one with my maiden name. Thank you. It did help a lot. Another thing to do this week..lol

when you apply for a new pp you have to give them your old one and they punch holes in it before they return it to you
apply in your maiden name and then dont change over any of your documents until after you get back from your honeymoon - that is your best bet so everything has the same name and you are safe
dont worry - go ask some of the newlyweds some of them dont change their name until a year has passed ha ha
