passport question..help

Does anyone know anything about swithcing names on a passport? My passport has my maiden name, my new legal married name is hypenated, my maiden name AND my married name..do I need to get a new passport with my hypenated name, or can I just leave it the way it is. I did already travel out of the country to Tobago this summer and it wasnt questioned..but Ill be tarveling to Ethiopia this summer and I dont want any problems to arise. Just wondering if anyone has been through this already! Thanks!!

i don't know anything about it but i would recommend to err on the side of caution and have that done ASAP

but, if you can not why dont you bring id with both names on it. AS proof

Thanks..thats what I did when I left the country the first time..I brought social security, marriage certificate and noone even questioned it..and they dont play around in the Trinidad airport..noone even asked, because my maiden name is on both my license and my passport. Thanks for the advice!

yeah, what ever you have has to match. i would go to the post office and pickup the paperwork (you can get it online also)
i just sent mine away to get renewed ( same dept that handles changes)
takes about 6 weeks.... then again, my fiancee got her passport in 2 weeks when it was suppose to take 6

This was mentioned recently on the newlywed board. You send it (passport, marriage license and form to change name). They will stamp your existing passport with your new name and when you go to renew it at the time of expiration they will issue you a new one with your new name.
