Passport Regulations

Passport Regulations

I know alot of people are confused with the new passport regulations but I looked it up because my FBIL insisted I would need a passport for FL and PR which I absolutely do not. I dont know why people are starting to think they need a passport to travel within US territories but whatever hopefully this fact sheet clears it up.

You can travel within the states and US territories WITHOUT a passport, that includes Puerto Rico. If you are traveling to Mexico, South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Canada and Bermuda then you need a passport.

I just wanted to add to this that I drove to Niagara Falls last week with my fiance and some friends, and we didn't need a passport to drive into Canada, but starting in 2008 you will need one!

For places where passports where never required (Canada, Mexico...) they now will be. HOwever US Desintaitons like Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John are the only places outside of the US where a Us Citizen would not need one.

Re: Passport Regulations

I was so confused by all of this a couple months ago but I think I am just going to get one after I get married and just have it on me whenever I take a vacation. With my luck I will need it and I wouldn't know..lol

Re: Passport Regulations

Its a good idea to get one, they are good for like 10 years or something.
