When you go to get a passport, you put your maiden name, but if you go away after your honeymoon, you have a married name now. How does that work?

Re: passports
You have to put your maiden name, there is NO other way to do it!!! They will know that you just got married. After all nothing is processed right after the wedding. You go to Motor vehicles after..........and do all the other crap like SS#
You'll be fine. Yeah time to get my passport don'tcha think. My wedding is in 11 weeks.

Re: passports
It can take a while to get a new passport - like 6 weeks using regular service. You can apply at the post office.
All of your flights and reservations should be in your maiden name - especially flghts. You won't have ID with your married name until after you marriage license is processed. If the name on the ID doesn't match the name on the reservation, you cannot fly.

They say six weeks, (I got mine twice once when I was under age they make you get one every five years I think until your 16/18 then its every ten), but I had mine in about 2-3 weeks. I wouldn't delay if you need it soon, but it doesn't take months.

Re: passports
After you change your name you put in an amendment form to have your name changed on your passport - no extra charge.
