My fiance and I applied for our passports last weekend? How long do they usually take.. I didnt know they take your actual birth certificate and mail it back to you.. That makes me a little nervous

Me too! We did ours last week, but FH had an expired passport that he could use for ID. Since it was my first time I had to give in my original birth certificate and it made me nervous. I hear it is 6-8 weeks.

It takes about 4 weeks, but they say 6-8 because sometimes they have a busy period. They will mail everything back to you.

I had to renew mine and then I lost it twice. I was really bummed because one of them had such a nice picture. (I am so unphotogenic)

I had taken my pics at cvs and they told me I had to wear my glasses.. well when I went to the post office to apply, they told me nothing on my face or head., I had a big argument, but they told me as long as my glasses werent tinted, it should be fine.. I felt better after that

no weorries, you do get it back...i had to get one last summer for a trip over seas and it really didn't take long at all...maybe 4 weeks...i even want to say less...maybe it was the time of year i got it...
