Passports

Passports

What is the process for getting this? Anyone know how long it takes to get one.

You go and take a passport picture. It's like $9 at CVS. Get the application at the post office and bring it back filled out with the picture your birth certfificate and the requird payment. It should take about 6-8 weeks. HTH

Make sure that when you go to the post office you have a check or money order that you can make out (i think for 67.00) b/c that gets mailed in with everything, and then there is a separate 30.00 fee the post office charges............and i read an article that this year it may take longer than normal b/c there are a lot of people who are now getting passports that may not have previously (aka b/c of cruise regulations etc.)

I actually just did this on Saturday!! I went to Rite aid and took a pic it was 7.99. Then went over to the post office, filled out the form. (dont forget your birth certificate and licence), paid the 97 bucks and I was done. Easy as pie!! It usually takes 6-8 weeks. If you wanted to you can pay and extra 60.00 to get it in 2 weeks.

I got mine about 8 years ago and I know the process has changed a bit. My mom and I went down to Genovese and had the pictures taken then went to the post office in Huntington. I think that process took about maybe an hour between the pics and the PO. We got ours in about 6 weeks.
I would suggest the sooner you get it the better. I know I have to get a whole new one (oh joy the process starts all over) because of my name changing.
