How soon do you need to get your passport? FH and I are going to Montego Bay, Jamaica for our honeymoon after the wedding?

Re: Passports
It takes at least a month unless you expedite the process which costs like an extra 80-100$.. I know you have time but I would start the process in the near future because is a pain in the a ss

Re: Passports
i say get your passport right when it's a year to your honeymoon date. it's always smart to have one.
From The Knot.com: Should I use my new name? If you're changing your name after your wedding, apply before you're married with your maiden name. You can change the name on your passport for free if it was issued within the past year, so fill out the appropriate forms after you're back and your name change is official.
Your licence will have your maiden name on it when you go to your honeymoon so it's better to have a passport that matches up with all your docs. Worry about changing everything after the honeymoon!

I would do it now!
Seriously, a friend of mine was so excited because she booked a vacation to Italy for July in January to meet her boyfriend's parents. She actually had to call her local congressman's office because it was like a week before her trip and she didn't have a passport. With all the things you have to worry about with the wedding, this is the last thing you should worry about!

Re: Passports
Do it now since Ive heard too many horror stories from people who just applied for them expeting to get them in a month or so. One of my co-workers applied about 3 months before her trip and the week before her trip she didnt even have it yet. She had to drive up to Connecticut to pick it up from some office just so she would make her plane the following day. If you get it now it will be one less stress that you will have to deal with when it comes closer to your wedding date.
