Ok...so I'm guessing since Hawaii is too expensive, we may have to look at other islands. I have a passport that is expired, and FH does not have one. How long will this take? Any post offices any faster than others?

Fh ordered his the regular way and it only took 3 weeks. You can expediate the order and pay more though. Some of the islands you do not need passports for.

lately the passports have been coming in much faster...i've seen friends get them in just a few weeks.
but if you are worried--you can request expedited service from any of the places that do the passport for you--just have to pay
Mine took 1 week, DH took 3 months!! They claimed they lost it!! But the one we received was with the original pictures we took . We spoke to many idiots. Go as soon as you can, you never know how long they will take. We did ours at the Roosevelt Field post office (better hours). It doesn't matter what post office you go to, they arent the ones making the passport.

You should expedite...it's summer and HIGH travel season, so regular may take longer.
Also, although some ISLANDS don't require passports, ALL AIRLINES do! My mom had this issue with Aruba last month.

You have plenty of time to get new passports without expediting, they take only a few weeks now. You'll have them in your hands way before october.

you can go and get it at the main office in manhattan and u may wait the whole day but u can get it the same day. post office is pretty much caught up with passports so the wait isn't as long as it once was but you need to do it ASAP because they take your original copies of social security and birth certificate and then mail it back with the passport...and i am sure u need that for your marriage license.

Mines took about 5 weeks and FH got his in 2 weeks. We got ours in the post office but in different towns. If you need it asap then go to the city and you can get it in one day. One of the attorneys at my job did that and got it the same day.
