Passport/tickets for honeymoon 4 months later!

Hey ladies, we will be getting married in September and going on our honeymoon in February. I ordered our plane tickets unde my maiden name, which is also on my (newly issued) passport. Because we have 4 months in between should I have my passport changed and the tickets reissued? A lot of people have said not to legally change my last name until after the honeymoon, but in NY your name changes immediately if that's what is on your marriage license. You have to actually get remarried to change it later!! What's the best option here???

Thanks

As far as I know you still have to change your name in NY. I don't think it changes automatically. I'm going on my honeymoon two months after our wedding and don't think I will be changing my name until after.

I was told that you still have to change your name in NY. Once you get your marriage license then you have to go to SS and DMV to change your name. And of course any bills, bank accounts, credit cards, etc need to be changed as well. As long as your license and passport match I don't think you'll have a problem.

I would just leave it as well. You actually have to go down to the SS office to change your name. So, like the others said, if your name matches on your passport and license, I would leave it.

Also to add, you don't have to change all of your credit cards to your married name. I've heard from a number of women to leave one credit card in your maiden name for 'just in case.' My mom has been married to my dad for over 25 years and she still has a credit card in her maiden name.

If you already have your passport and tickets in maiden name I would keep them as is. Our honeymoon was a month after our wedding and I kept all documents under my maiden name. I didn't go to DMV and SS to officially change my name until about 4 months after the wedding.
You have to note on your marriage liscence if you plan on taking your FH name, but its not officially changed until you go to SS and DMV.

If you already have your passport and tickets in maiden name I would keep them like that. You have 1 year from when you passport was issued to change it into your married name at no charge.

We are getting married in Sept and going on our HM in Nov. and I'm changing my passport when I get back. I just applied for it last week.

Your name doesn't automatically change.

I would keep it and then get it all changed after the HM.
