Past and Present Brides: Karaoke - yes or no?

Past and Present Brides: Karaoke - yes or no?

FH has suggested we get a DJ with karaoke equipment. Personally, I think while the 'singers' will like the limelight, there are alot more people who would rather be dancing. I think it will take up too much time and there propably won't be enough interest to make it worth our while. Your thoughts???

I would say that would only work for a super casual wedding. Probably more appropriate for your hen party. I agree it might take away from the dancing and guests, especially older ones, would be really confused. Just MHO for what it's worth.

Our DJ is actually a friend of ours who recently left one of the major companies to start his own business. A lot of his gigs at present are karaoke gigs, so we knew that was an option for us. However, we felt the way you do about it taking too much away from the dancing.

If we can manage to swing an after party, we may ask him to bring his karaoke set-up for that, though. Just a thought...

There is now way I'd have have karaoke at my wedding I can only imagine what that would be like. I'd rather dance the night away with my friends and family.

Thanks for the reality check girls. I agree with all of you. And, as I told FH, that day goes by SO fast, he will not even miss it. I don't think he realizes how fast it goes by.

SaxtrevNMeg, were do people actually go for after parties? I'm intrigued!

ETA: MrsMango, your response made me LOL. FH has his own karaoke setup and it gets pretty crazy at times. Definitely not a wedding activity.

After parties can be done in different ways. We were considering one where we booked our OOT block, but the hotel that we decided to book at can't accommodate it.
A friend of ours did it at a bar local to her RH. It was low-key, but lots of fun. And hysterical to watch the reactions of all the uber-casual regulars of the bar when we all walked in in black tie attire...
