Past Brides - Splurges

Past Brides - Splurges

What splurge are you SO glad you decided to splurge on?

Is there a splurge that you kinda regret or doesn't seem worth it now that the wedding is over?

Just wondering as I face all these tempting splurges!

The one thing we totally splurged on was our rings, it's really the only thing (other than pics and video) that last longer than the day. At the beginning of the wedding process I told my husband that if we're going to splurge, lets splurge on something we will have forever, luckily he agreed

I splurged on the hall - so glad I did. Flowerfield was awesome and I loved every minute of it.

What I regret not splurging on was photography - while my pictures are nice I wish I would have used Imagine Studio.

We splurged on the honeymoon.

The wedding is one day, the HM is a week long (or more) we figured that's where the money should go!

That was our biggest splurge. Other than that... as far as actual day of wedding splurges, I would say I splurged on my gown - and yes, it was worth it.

We splurged on our rings and I am very glad we did. They are beautiful and we will have them forever.

I wish I had shopped around a bit more for photographers and possibly spent a bit more for someone else. My photos are nice, but there are a few bride's photos I have seen on here that just blew me away!

Slurges:
* Honeymoon: Africa
* Dress: Eve of Milady
* Calligraphy: Inkspun for invites & place cards - not much of a spluge because it is very affordable BUT it's something I could have done myself if I really wanted to. It was a time-saving splurge.

Worth it- Chair covers, my invitations, tall centerpieces, ceremony musicians instead of the DJ playing music.

Not worth it-Fondue station at my reception. They didn't add any extra time so no one really had time to eat it and enjoy it. Total waste!

The chocolate fountain was a big splurge and I am still deciding if it was worth it. I was too busy to notice if alot of people were up there.

Worth it:
- HM -- Australia
- Chocolate fountain
- dress

Could have given more thought about cost:
- favors and donation
- CPs
- DOC

Glad I didn't have:
- special aisle runner
- elaborate place cards
- calligraphy
- extra photographers
- more expensive hall

ETA: It was really the little things; $500 here, $500 there really added up after a while.

Splurges:

Dance Lessons- John from Ballroom Dance LI (a vendor here) is amazing not only with our first dance, but we also learned other dances so we can dance at weddings and other events.

Exotic Martinis- our guests really drank them up!

Tall Centerpieces--they were tall enough the guests were able to see across the tables and talk with one another and they were beautiful!

Invitations-- I absolutely LOVED our invites and although they were expensive, imo were perfect for our affair.

In terms of other 'extras' I'm glad I did: I'm glad I made my own menus and programs. They weren't all that ornate, but they were made with good quality paper and I loved the way they came out. We also made our donation cards as well as place cards to go with our theme (s). Those came out well, as well!

We splurged on the hall. It was pricey, but definitley well worth it. I still have people telling me that my wedding had the best wedding food.
I cheaped out on my flowers to save money and I wish I hadn't.

We splurged on our rings and will splurge on our honeymoon (we went to his parents house in CT for 4 days following our wedding and are going to Italy in October for 12-17 days)

Everything else, I wouldn't say we skimped, but we shopped around and got the best deals we could and we did a bunch of DIY projects to also cut costs.

Now I think back and I don't think I splurge on anything . When ever I was booking/ordering something in the back of my mind was the $$ and the questions is this really necessary? And so I got or 'talked myself out' of the Expensive items and just got the moderately price item -- I kinda wished I'd splurge on at least 1 thing - oh well...

we splurged on our honeymoon - completely worth it.

I splurged on my veil (reem acra) and wish I didn't. I didn't wear it enought to get my money's worth
