We are going on a cruise this summer - 12 nights out of Venice, back to Rome with stops in Greece, Italy, Turkey and Croatia on Princess. Which excursions should I book, which sights are must see? Basically I am looking for any and all advice.
Thank you!
BTW - not honeymoon, but I thought this was the best place to post :o)

Re: Past Mediterranean Cruisers
We did this cruise on Princess also last summer except we left from Rome and ended in Venice.
I would skip the Pompeii tour imo, yes its historical and somewhat interesting, but id rather read about it anyday than see all the rocks and remaining ruins. It was very tiring and lasted all day. Way too many people too.
Go to the island of Capri instead and check out the Murano factory which is fun.
If youre stopping in Athens, we booked a tour, then got off of the tour bus when it was headed back to the ship so we can go sight seeing and shopping in the city center ourselves. Didnt seem like it was worth it to take a tour there, id grap a cab to the city center and do solo sight seeing.
Turkey definitly do a tour, its not really safe to go into a cab as Americans by yourselves. The persian rug tour was interesting.
Santorini and Mykonos we did one of those half day bus tours which was nice and the rest of the day we spent walking through shops, cafes, and went to the beach for a little bit. We did the wine tasting tour in Santorini which was really nice.
Overall, dont book too many tours, in all honesty you get tired of waking up bright and early at 7am and being herded onto a bus with hundreds of people lol. Tours in all countries are not necessary but some are definitly a must.

We actually just got back from our HM which was a Mediterranean Cruise, had the time of our lives. We booked 3 tours total, 1 for Bari, Italy, 1 for Katakolon Greece which showed the ruins of Olympia where they had the first Olympic games and also one for Santorini which was amazing. The Caldera along with all those gorgeous white homes with blue roofs, spectacular!! We also did stops in Mykonos and went on our own, no tour, then we also did Rhodes and Croatia (Dubrovnik) on our own as well. If you need anything else let me know.
