Re: Patch vs. Pill vs. Shot...

I went on the pill right before my wedding and have since gained 10 lbs. I now went off it because of this. Other than the weight gain, I didn't have any problems.

Re: Patch vs. Pill vs. Shot...

Ladies,
Thank you so much for all this info. I was thinking about the patch, but I don't know if I really want to do that - my skin is sensitive, I would be worried about it falling off, etc.

I am leaning more towards the pill. My concern in this. If you have weight gain, how soon does it occur? If you have side effects how soon do they occur - are they immedaite?

So many questions...

Re: Patch vs. Pill vs. Shot...

I have been on the pill for 12 years, just recently switched back to Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I found that I did gain weight in the first few months, but my body seems to be adjusting now. I did have the boob growth- and although a pleasant surprise side effect for my FH, I found it pretty painful. I think I am almost a cup size bigger in the week or so before my period. OTC has also really helped my PMS, I was on Mircette before this one and that pill made me mental about 2 weeks before my period, I was like the PMS monster

In my experiences w. the pill, its all a matter of finding the one that works for you. And you need about 3 mos to see if your body will adjust. When I first went on OTC, I gained weight and was SO bloated. I called my doc to switch, but he made me wait it out 3 months, and now its much better. Periods are shorter & lighter (4 days), and my skin is great. Talk to your doc, they can help you make the best decision for you. Good luck!

Re: Patch vs. Pill vs. Shot...

I have always taken the pill but the only one that I had the least side effects with is Lo-Estrin-all other brands made me moody, cranky, low libido, etc...

Re: Patch vs. Pill vs. Shot...

I did the shot for over a year and got off of it. It made me psycho (very depressed)! I also bled everday.

I've been on the pill for about 2 years now. The only weight I have gained is a result of being less active.
