A friend of ours wants to get a paternity test to see if he is the father of an unborn baby. Where would one go to get it done and can it be done if the baby hasn't been born yet?

There is a way of finding out before the baby is born, but I dont know what the facts are surrounding the risks of the babies health. After the baby is born you can get a simple DNA test to find out.

I think the only way to find out during the pregnancy would be with an amnio. If the mother isn't getting one for a medical reason then I don't think they will do it just for paternity.

Thanks ladies! It's a tough situation for the possible father.... neither of them are 100% sure.
