Agreed. I don't like it when vendors try to advertise to guests.
Im sure Patken brides will appreciate this tip since they can request they not hand out the slips.
On the other hand, I do like to see the photos of a wedding after its over, so including a note about where the photos can be viewed would be nice in the program or on the menu or in the thank you cards.

Re: patken
I went to a beautiful wedding at the Botanical Gardens where business cards were placed on each table letting guests know that pictures could be seen on a particular site. No mention was made that they could be purchased (although that service was available on the site.) I think that is a much better way to handle it, so guests know the pictures are out there, but don't feel like they are getting a sales pitch.

Re: patken
i don't know who the photographer was--he seemed really into his work and fun to be around-young guy.......it reminded me of when you go to a place like great adventure and they take a pic of you and then you have the opportunity to purchase it if you like it..........i don't think it is completely a very bad idea (i'm sure people would def. buy the pics)-----i just didn't like that it might take away from the bride and what she had planned for the photographer---the paper made it seem like you could go up to the photographer and ask him to take a picture at any given time during the wedding ---i believe that the photographer should be 'booked' just for what the bride and groom want....

Re: patken
Ok ladies. This is what Doug, the owner of Patken email me back and I must say I feel very relieved:
Jenn, This is in no way our normal procedure, This is what the bride reqested photos of each guest so they can get them. We took several hundred portraits of the guest for themselves not the bride and groom at her request. I assure you we don't do this The bride and groom paid extra for this service and told us how to do it. We have never done this before, and if this is the public response we got, I probably would,nt do it again I hope this helps. Doug The reason she wanted the flyers given at church was because she had about 30 of her first grade students at the church and she wanted photos with them. that they could view online. Thanks Doug

Re: patken
Patken didn't do that at my wedding.
At a friends wedding they went around to the tables and gave everyone a card with their website address (not Patken). My first reaction was disgust at the advertising, but the card gave you the website where you could view pictures from the party which was actually nice to do (you could also purchase pictures if you desired)

Re: patken
glad to know it was at her request and didn't take away from what she paid for--then it's ok!!:).........i was just unsure if it was their typical practice at every wedding (i saw 2 brides from patken on that website)------like i said before, i wasn't sure if they did this throughout the entire night (which i wouldn't have liked) ...i have never seen this at a wedding before either -so i was curious.......those of you that booked patken--are you asking for this also? again-i am glad that is what she asked for!
