I'm thinking about using Patken as a photographer. Does anyone have any feedback or information about working with them.
I just want to make sure that my photographer is the best. Pictures are really important to me.
Thanks Ladies

I completely AGREE. They had nice work and their prices were really good however, I was totally in love with 12th night. I saw 12th night first and was sold especially after visiting a number of other photographers.

Re: Patken
I booked with Patken on the spot. I also had three or four friends that used them and their pics are great. I loved my one friends pics so I requested her same photographer. They have beautiful pics. Totally reccommend them.

Re: Patken
I liked Patken- I thought their work was very nice and their prices were affordable. In the end, I booked with Duet because we got alot more for our money, including 2 photographers.

Patken's work is great and so unique...from what I've heard all the photographers are excellent and their reviews have all been great from everyone on here..were using Doug (the owner) whose work is awesome, but he trains all the other photographers, and I've heard nothing but great things about them...

Re: Patken
we used patken and were very happy w/ our pics, and loved our photographer, Steve. if you know which photographer you want you can request them, and if they are availalbe, that's who you'll have. we requested Steve and are very happy we did.
if you want to book w/ Doug, the owner, there is an additional fee to book with him. when we booked with them, it was an additional $2500 to use Doug.

i dont really understand why everyone is so against their method of choosing a photographer. they take your e-pictures and learn your personality and then assign you a photog that they think will WORK BEST FOR YOU. woudlnt you want someone who is gonna take the best shots and understand what you want? they do allow you to choose your own if you really want to and if they are available though.

I can understand wanting the photog and client personalities to mesh but I think the bride & groom should also like that photogs style of shooting. some are more fromal, some have a better technique so pics that are posed don't look posed etc so if you get along fine but pics show yhou posed well that match isn't great after all.
as long as you check on photos and photog personality of the guy you ask for if you don't like their choice for you , I think that would be OK.
we did not use them tho because there was a 6 month wait to get the dvd of the proofs. we wanted it as soon as proof prints were done.

Patken was our 2nd choice. I loved their style and prices but in the end I was not comfortable with them like I was with DeJa Vu Studios.

Re: Patken
I always had them pegged as my photographers but when I actually saw their books I was disappointed in their overly consistent style- not much photojournalism was valued When I was still deciding i knew I loved Steve's personality and requested him and checked on his availability constantly but friends of mine told me about major issues with their products, the wrong thank you card style and refusing to change it, underdeveloped pictures, pictures with distracting odd elements in the background of the majority of the pictures, incorrect albums (size, pictures, etc) so between that and the style, and then i fell in love with another company
edit: but I do know of a few people who were happy in the end even through major aggravation, just keep on top of them, they are getting to be a big company I guess

Re: Patken
I thought there work was reall ygood but we found them to be pricey for what they offered and I did not like the fact that we could not print our own photos, this is how they continue to make money off of you. Ilike the option of being able to have my pics to print for years to come.
however I have heard really great reviews on how they are for weddings.
