We went and saw Patken this weekend, and I was ready to book them right there. FH, on the other hand, wants to see a couple of other photographers just so he can feel like he shopped around and can still be comfortable with our choice (otherwise he might regret it later -- understandable, I think).
When I spoke to the woman, she told me 4 out of their 8 photographers are already booked (yikes!) I don't know if this was a 'hurry up book now or we might not have anyone available on your day' or what. (I'm not getting married till Oct 2004).
My question is, when I do sign, I want to specify the right photographer (if he is available). From the boards I hear a lot about a Steve? Would he be my top choice? If Steve's not available, who would my other choices be for my photographer?

Hello I know how you feel about shopping around we did the same booked someone that was in our price range then 3 months before the wedding they tell us the guy that was going to shoot my weding has his kids that weekend, we got our money back and start all over again searching thats when we found Patken... We are using vinnie look at his work... best of luck try to look at other photographers fast... time is of the essansance

I was just at Patken last night. We orignally wanted Steve (he was booked at the time) we then asked for Vinny he is booked on our date. So they set up a meeting for us with Frankie (bones) he is great he does a little of everything (photojournalism, romantic and some traditional) . A girl that I work with used Steve and I just saw her proofs they were beautiful. I know that all the photographers are trained by Doug so they all do excellent work. Good luck on whoever you choose
We also looked at about 5 other places before we went back to Patken and booked. I wwould hurry though I think they book fast!

Question, do you & FH like their style?
Also Steve & Doug are excellent. You need to look through their albums and ask who did the album(s) you see that you like.

I booked Vinnie - he is awesome. My engagement pictures came out so great. Even FH was blown away. If he is available I would definitely book him. His style and Steve's are very similar.

Look through the albums and pick the one you love. Then ask who took the pictures. Definitely have the name on the contract when you book. By the way, I have Steve too! Can't wait to see those proofs Jennbaby!!!!

Thanks! I'll have to take these names back and see if I can get any of them..
Problem with me looking at the books is that they sort of all look the same at a point.. a blur!
