We are going with Patken, but I haven't heard a bad word about either. Good Luck.. I could be wrong but I think Shamma used Imagine and Jennbaby used Patken.

We also booked with Patken, I know SO MANY People who used them & having nothing but GREAT things to say about them

I am using Patken. I love them. They are so sweet and I think their work is great

Yes Shamma used Imagine and Jennbaby used Patken (Steve was her photographer)

I personally don't care for Patken's photography too much and I don't think Patken and Imagine are similar in terms of photography style. I would go with Imagine though. But it depends on what you are looking for. I think Imagine is def. more photojournalistic and artistic looking while Patken is more traditional. Just my opinion though.

I agree with Junebride04, I did not care for Patken's photography and don't think they are remotely similar to Imagine. I thought Imagine's photography was beautiful and would have booked them in a second if they did not require you use them for video as well. I didn't care for their video at all.

when i looked at patkens photos on their website i thought that they were photojournalistic. am i wrong? is there a big difference price wise between the two?

I looked at both Patken and Imagine and I booked Imagine. I agree with junebride and eveneden. Their styles are very different. Lia from Imagine does amazing work. It is more artistic and photojournalistic than Patken. I also think that the quality of Imagines B&W photos and the processing used is way better than almost all of the other photographers that I looked at. Patken does nice work, but after seeing Imagine, I just had to book them. Remember if you go with Imagine, you have to book them for video also. Patken's prices were cheaper, but IMO Lia is worth every penny. I also think that Lia & her husband Nelson who does the video are so nice and will be a pleasure to work with.

I used Patken & I loved them.

They are 2 totally different types of photographers, both, to me, incredible.

Certain times of the year, you have to book Imagine for both photo AND video though.

Patken does photojournalistic, but I think what you get depends a lot on the photographer you use. There are several photographers at Patken. There was a pretty significant difference in price between the two. FM me if you want the details.

we are not using either photographer, but did go see patken and were not pleased with our experience there. however, it seems many brides have had great experiences with them and beautiful pics. We are using spelman studios.

I also met with both and agree that the styles are not really similar. I think Imagines work is alot more artistic which is what I was looking for, so I went with them. Patken does nice work as well, it was just not what I was looking for. I didn't really like Patken's sales woman, so that turned me off to them. I felt like she was pressuring us to book them on the spot.

I used Imagine, and loved them. I have seen quite a few Patken brides on this board and Imagine and Patken have very different style. Patken does beautiful work depending on who shoots the wedding, but Imagine is #1 in my book, of course b/c Lia was my photographer.

During peak season you must book them for both photo and video, which we did and loved them.

Imagine is more artistic and photojournalistic, go see both and then make your decision.

You can email Lia to get a price list. I booked them in 2001 so I know those prices are not longer in effect.

We used Imagine and absolutely loved their work. Go and see both. You get a good idea of their work from the websites but you really need to see their sample books. With Imagine what you see is what you get Lia & her assistant Paula are the only photographers. Patken has a number of photographers working for them.

Its also good to see how well you click with the photographer. You will have them around almost your entire day so the chemestry is very important.

can you bargain with imagine? i know they are worth the money but my parents are paying for it and they think it is a lot of money

You can change your pkg around and lessen the price if that is what you mean, we made up our own pkg. I do not know about bargaining, she is in high demand so I don't think there is any barganing there.

I wanted Imagine and they were booked on my date. If you think you want them, call NOW. All of your comparisons could be for naught.
