Do you know who is paying for your bridal shower and have you ever had to pay for one??
This is my 'delemia' I have been in 7 wedding parties and have shared the cost of the bridal shower in 4 of those weddings (the others I was to young for). I am in my best friends wedding this coming december and planned on contributing again. However the bride told her mom that she (brides mom) is to pay for the shower and not to ask us BP members to help, that it is rude.... My mom I know will be helping with the bridal shower expenses but I know she can't foot the entire bill. I dont want my mom or family to come off as cheap, or rude! What's your opinion?

Re: Paying for Bridal shower?
I believe my mom and my sister MOH are paying for mine. I don't think that the BM will be paying. I think it's different for everyone. I have heard in most cases that mom and bridal party pay for the shower. I don't at all think it's cheap or rude of your mom to not pay for the entire thing.

Re: Paying for Bridal shower?
I'm my sister's MOH and I'm basically paying for it all myself. My mom helped out with the favors.
My sister is my MOH and is basically paying for mine on her own too with a little help from my mom.
I never contributed to the bridal showers for bridal parties that I was in, but then again I was never asked to . ..

Re: Paying for Bridal shower?
yeah i dont really know the answer to this question.
but im thinking maybe your friend said that to her mom because she feels bad to have her BM pay. She might be thinking of you (who is getting married soon and knows you will be short on $) and her other friends.
but im glad you asked this, because I would like to know the norm!

I agree it is different for everyone. With your friend's shower at least you will be able to focus on other aspects of the bridal shower to help out on. There is nothing wrong with the girls helping out to pay with the shower either, this is a reasonable expectation when you ask people to be in your bridal party...It is not rude!

I guess that it could be that she is trying to help me save up!

Re: Paying for Bridal shower?
I really think that when you are asked to be a BM, alot of girls think that they buy a dress and shoes, get a bok and are in your pictures....honestly... ive seen this...
I have a friend getting married in october, N. I am in Nicoles wedding and so is T. N lives out of state. only the wedding is out of state, nothing else. In speaking with her mom, when planning all the events thru her wedding, T just was uninterested and had no idea it was such a respondsibility! I was like hmmm...shes in my BP too!
I think BMs should offer to help...not necessarily giving my mom money, but offering to pick up some decorations or bring a dessert (if necessary) or help with postage for invites, or make the wishing well, help set up, etc..... i mean...it shows how much i mean to you!
T wont be at N's bridal shower. I feel like talkin to her about mine, bc id be really hurt.....
We pickedbms for a reason...our right hand ladies...the girls who were always there for us, and they should help out in some way...even if its getting there 2 hours early to putup chairs and hang a banner, or offering to buy balloons....etc.
