Paying for the Honeymoon-HELP

Quick Question!!??

My FH and I have been talking about the honeymoon!

Are you paying for your honeymoon?

Is someone (mom/dad) giving you money toward it?

Is someone paying for the whole thing (as a gift???)

We are thinking about 'registering' at liberty travel (or wherever we book our honeymoon)

Some people register for it but traditionally, it is paid for by the groom. I've read it in many places both on-line and otherwise. I'm leaving the honeymoon up to FH as he will probably have very little say in regard to everything else due to my overbearing mother and 2 much older and highly opinionated sisters. Though lately I see tradition is thrown to the wind on most things. Do what is right for you!

We are paying for the honeymoon on our own. I think we are budgetting around $5000 for it.

I know a couple who registered for their honeymoon through TheBigDay.com, but I think traditionally it is paid for by the groom. But I think it depends on your circumstances, money situation, etc. When my sister got married, the best man gave them a honeymoon as a gift, but the best man was also a fairly well-off (older) relative.

Sorry, I'm not an 06 bride, but I pass through sometimes, b/c there's no 07 board...yet!

when you guys say it is tradionally paid for by the groom, do you mean the groom's side of the family, or the groom himself... because if it is the groom himself, isnt that the same thing as paying for it yourselves, because once you are married, his money is your money and your money is his money???

I am going to say NO only because you pay in advance. Unless of course you charge it and pay it off. I hate owing money but that's what many people do I guess.

The groom's side is usually asked to pay for liquor and some other incidentals but not huge ticket items. It can be a sticky subject. I told FH that my family would NEVER ask for money from his family, but if it were to be offered, it would be accepted graciously.

Some FH's families offer a 'lump sum' to assist the bride's family and some offer to foot the bill for a particular vendor (i.e. flowers or music). People do whatis within their means. Times and traditions have changed.

We are paying for it ourselves. We have also considered registering for it, but haven't decided yet. In the grand scheme of things, it is just another expense. Oh, I need more $$!!
