Ok, so my big plan was to pay vendors off way before the wedding not to worry about it, and putting the money in the bank means it's there for me to spend . . . .
How are you girls planning to do this?
Get as much out of the way early or stockpile and pay when due?

we are paying for things as we go along...but not paying vendors until they are due.

True! Never thought of that! I think I might 'mix and match' -- paying the 'little things' off early like chair bows, OWG (pic spot), etc., but leaving the big stuff for when it's due.

Re: Paying Off Early
I am leaving everything for when due. I rather earn the interest and be out the least amount possible if something were to happen (remember, they could always go out of business, etc - it's not just about a wedding being called off). However, I am not the type of person who spends everything in an account. I have always been very measured. I just keep a spreadsheet list of what we have spent (i.e., contracted for) and what our despoits were - that way I can automatically see what we owe in the end and keep that in mind.

We're paying as we go...I'd like to open like an ING account and try to make some interest but I haven't had time to really look into it and those things confuse me!

We're saving as much as we can each month and then just paying as things become due. Even if it's low, it's better for us to gain the interest

Re: Paying Off Early
That's what I was thinking re: interest . . . .it's so low right now, perhaps my dollars will be more useful to me next year when gas is $5.00 a gallon!!!
Then again, I'm not doing that great a job of saving, not because I'm irresponsible, but because I opened my own firm on Monday and that means at least one month, if not two, of NO income until billables come in . . . after we meet the expenses . . . . I'm starting to worry.
The 'opening my own firm' thing was not planned for before the wedding, it just happened that way. I'm freaking out.
