Paying your vendors with a bank check

Paying your vendors with a bank check

we have a lot our final payment due in January. I was thinking of getting bank checks now and putting them aside so I don't have to worry about having the money later (after the holidays and everything) do you think this is a good idea and do you think the vendors would take them? Would they still be valid 2 months later? Either that or pay them early I guess but not too comfortable with that...

I agree to not pay the vendors in advance... check with your bank on the expiration dates. If it's a short expiration, maybe consider opening a fee-free savings account (a passbook is great b/c you CANNOT withdraw unless you physically go to the bank w/ your little passbook! I keep mine at my mom's to deter me even further from taking out the money) until it's closer to the date.

I think bank checks are good for 6 months or 1 year. Check with you Bank!

bank checks are good for 1 year, and they're as good as cash. but most bank checks have a fee associated with them.
