When you book a reception hall must you pay them on a monthly basis? Or, like some other reception halls they don't care how you pay as long as everything is paid up 30 days before your date. I would rather deposit my money into a savings account. Because I get scared sometimes and think, 'What if that vendor goes out of business? How would you get your deposit back? Do you ladies think that I could express this to a vendor?
Advice? Suggestions
TIA

Re: PAYMENT PLAN WITH VENDOR??
I think most halls ask that you start with a deposit to secure your date and then pay the remaining balance ~30 days prior to the wedding like you said.
That way, once you secure the date, you can put your $ into an account as you save instead of giving the majority of it to the vendor early on.
As far as other vendors like photographers and florists, I'm not sure what kinds of plans they work out, but I'm sure they're similar to those of the RHs.

Re: PAYMENT PLAN WITH VENDOR??
sorry i'm crashing!! as far as payment plans go for RH's- they usually ask for a deposit & after that every 2 months is another payment- its about 4 payments - after the 4th payment you usually have to pay 2 weeks b4 the wedding. As far as other vendors go like photographer, dj/band & florist- you just have to give them a deposit & dont have to pay until 2 weeks b4. well at least thats what i got! HTH!!

Re: PAYMENT PLAN WITH VENDOR??
We are using Chateau la mer.
We went in April and booked. We had to put down a 1000 deposit. Plus 1000 payments on
July 1st September 1st November 1st January 15th.
So by next month 5000 is paid

Re: PAYMENT PLAN WITH VENDOR??
i think every hall is different. you just have to ask around really at each place.
we booked our hall just under 2 years to the day, in 2005. by the time we reached our 1 yr mark to the wedding, we had to have about 50% paid. since then, there was no payment schedule, so we paid whenever we could. we have about 2 mos. left to the big day, and about 80% is paid for, and our last payment isn't due until 5 days b4 the wedding

Re: PAYMENT PLAN WITH VENDOR??
My hall requires NOTHING except $750.00 to book and secure the date.
Then, we don't need to give them ANYTHING until a month before. At that point, I believe they want 75% of the projected cost and the balance will be due the day of... this worked out wonderfully for us because it gave us an opportunity to save.
I am weary of halls that require a lot of money before the wedding... what happens if you have to cancel? the wedding is called off? someone gets sick or injured and you reschedule your wedding? I would feel better picking a place that doesn't require you to pay too much upfront. that way, they have to uphold their end of the bargain,
