Payment question

Payment question

If you have the money to pay off the complete balance you owe to vendors....would you pay it off or would you hold on to it. The balances are due a week or 2 before the wedding.

Re: Payment question

I'd hold on to it because i've heard too many stories of vendors changing after getting 100% of their $~

Re: Payment question

People say you shouldnt pay off the balances.. but I think for those vendors that have to get paid off before the wedding - why not. Ive been paying all my vendors little by little. My hall is almost pd. The only thing I wont pay off in full is the photog/video, I will wait till after the wedding.

I rather pay because if I leave it in the bank I will use it for something else - No Self Control!!

All of my vendors are paid off ASAP. I pay them with bank checks so that there will be no BS later on

Re: Payment question

I would hang onto it and put it Ing (offering 4.75 until 04/15 on savings accounts) or something like it to let it earn a little interest until payments are actually due.
This is what I ended up doing because I was nervous I would spend it if it were too easily accessible.
I feel gratified when i look at the interest it's earning and I feel secure knowing I'm ready to pay the vendors when the money is due.

Re: Payment question

I agree with the above, keep your money and earn interest on it, that would be the smartest thing to do!

Re: Payment question

Thank you ladies.....I'm getting married in 9 weeks.....do you still think I should put it in an interest account?

Re: Payment question

I am great at holding on to money. That being said unless the vendor was going to offer me something extra or a discount I would wait until the balance is due. I'd rather me collect the interest than my vendor.

I would hold onto it, even 9 weeks worth of interest is more than you had before. Every lil bit is nice!

Re: Payment question

I would hold on to it too - make it earn some interest. Let the vendors get it when its due - just to secure them from messing anything up. They still have to make everything look good for you.

Re: Payment question

I'm definitely holding on to my $$$ right now and giving the vendors only the minimum due except the hall. we're continuing to make monthly payments to our hall even though we're not obligated to. for the rest we'll be paying them approx. 1 month before the wedding...atleast we'll be able to gain some interest this way

I agree. Hold on to your money.

Re: Payment question

I've been paying all my vendors monthly. Just because it's easier for me to budget this way. If you're good with money and won't spend it, I'd say put it in an account until payments are due, if not, pay them off as you go along.

It all depends are how good your self control is!!!

Re: Payment question

We're waiting to right before the wedding in case something goes wrong in any direction, we'd only lose the deposits.

Re: Payment question

Thank you girls.....I think I'm going to start paying them little by little...I'm good with money but sometimes stuff comes up(important stuff like bills) that we end up taking from the wedding money and I'm afraid if I get used to that before we know it we are short for the wedding.

Re: Payment question

FH and i have come into a little bit of money plus his tax refund---and when we cash the checks, i plan on heading to my hall and paying just about the rest of what we owe (minus about 10%)--and heading to our vendors and paying off majority of the balance. (once again, leaving maybe 10%)

for me i'd rather have them done and paid for as much as i can--nearly one whole year before our big day...that way we can save up as much $$ as possible for our own apartment and furnish it. (we will move in together either right before or after the wedding)
