My friend just got engaged and is looking for plan a FAll 2013 wedding and wants to start looking but is wondering if she will have to start paying (other than a deposit) now or if the payment plans will kick in as she gets closer.
For my hall I had to pay $1000 every other month until the menu meeting which was 3 months before the wedding, but I booked it a year before my date.

I think its going to very depending on the RH. With mines we put $1000 deposit. 4 months later our next payment of $2600 was due. Our next payment in the same amount is not due until I think Sept. So they def space it out. I plan to have more than $2600 payed by then though. I dont want a big bill the wk/day of the wedding.

I put my deposit down when I booked in September, my 2nd payment is in February, third in August and then final a week before the wedding.

I definitely think it varies a lot by RH.
Mine was $500 deposit and starting a month after booking we had a monthly payment of about 5% of the amount that would be due as our minimum. The monthly payment is supposed to stop once you hit 50% of the minimum and then you would pay the remainder 8 days before.
I think by the time we reach 50%, we're already a month before the wedding, so then at that point we just pay the rest 8 days before.

Mine was 1K deposit down then a month later 1500 2 months after that 2000 3 months after that 2500. Then the final balance due week before the wedding with the fianl count of people. Definately plan well in advance so you have to come up with money in such a short time.

it depends on the RH. we did 1000 deposit at signing. then 2-3 months later 1500. another 3 months later 1500 and then this month we paying 2000. rest is due closer to the wedding. it also depends when you booked vs when the wedding is. the more time you have the better i suppose

we made monthly payments.... it was the best decision we made. We didn't have a balloon payment to make the month of the wedding because we had paid our minimum way before-- it worked out awesome!

I booked a year before my date and I have a monthly payment plan up until three months before the wedding.

mine was like $1000 down and then $3000 every four or five months until the wedding (we booked 22 months in advance) - then we owed like $8000 two weeks before the wedding

Ours is an initial deposit, then 180 days after contract another few k payment, then total 10 days before event.
I'm liking what the other girls are doing though with installments every few months. Will have to ask fiance if he wants to do this and have him ask our venue if he agrees if we can do this.
I'm thinking I'll freak out with a huge check now if they take it all at once 10 days before!

We had $1000 deposit in nov 09, then $1000 jan '10, $1000 Nov : '10, $1000 Jan '11 then final payment due 5 days before the wedding.. We of course could pay anything extra (which if you have the extra money, i would recommend bc the sticker shock is quite scary come finally payment!)
