I was just wondering...How are you girls making your payment to the hall? We had to put down $1500 and $1000 every 3 months (I think) then the big bulk 5 days before. Are any of you paying more earlier to make the last payment less? I think I may want to start doing this.

Hi,
I had to put down $500... then $1000 the first month then a payment every other month as follows:
$1500 $2500 $2500
And then the bulk of it about a week before! UGH! Just thinking about it make me a little nauseas

Re: Payments
We put down 1500.00 and then 750.00 is due every 4 months and then a week before the balance, we might up our payments to get it out of the way, the catering hall is more then happy to oblige.

Re: Payments
My wedding is on 5/31/04 and we began paying in August 2002. We are making 4 payments in the next year and a final payment 2 weeks prior to the wedding.

Re: Payments
We had to put 1000 down, and make three 2700 payments...the last bulk payment is due 10 days before the wedding when we finalize.
We decided not to pay more, in case of any problems...

Re: Payments
That's what I'm afraid of mistyeyed...problems. Then I figured well, we already signed the contract and we are definately having it there so why not get some $$$ out of the way. I sent $1000 last month even though our next payment isn't until 12-1 I think I'll send $1000 a month (as long as we have it that month) to get the final payment lowered. I think it might kill me if we have to pay like $10,000 at the end. Paying it off, it might not seem like as much (warped thinking I know )

Re: Payments
Honestly, I just said problems because my fiance made a good point when I wanted to send more money...we are going to have so many other vendors to pay off, it's just senseless to throw more money at them when we have all of these other people to pay off. And, if something goes wrong with the hall (God forbid) we will have an exact match check for check to the record of payments they gave us...it's just neater that way. It's not a bad thing to pay more, but pacing yourself when yoiu are doing it yourselves is better that trying to get ahead, and being stuck at the end.
I know this sounded confusing, but it all makes sense in the end! LOL.

Re: Payments
Beth, this is what our hall told us we had to do:
1. Deposit (March 2002): $500 2. April 2002: payment of $1,500 3. June 2002: another payment of $1,500 4. September 2002: $2,500 payment 5. February 2003: $2,500 payment
That's all we'll have to pay till 30 days before our wedding (at that time, we'll have to pay 50%) and final payment is due 8 days before the wedding.

Re: Payments
I am trying to increase my monthly payments, so that I have less to pay when the wedding nears.
The hall is the biggest expense, so in order to keep myself de-stressed, this is the way I want to do things.

Re: Payments
Well my Fh and I are happy that we don't have to pay anymore past Febraury to the reception hall. Since we have the money already for the reception hall in the bank and because we have a year and a half left, we think of it this way: It's better for us to leave the $ in the bank and let it accrue interest then it is for the hall to have it. I know that the interest won't be much, but hey every dollar counts.
