When I bot my pc in February, it came with a cd burner, but I can only burn a full cd from an original. I want to be able to save single songs to discs. Do I need additional software? Can you recommend one? Is it expensive

CD Burners usually come with the software. Look at the materials that came with the burner and there is probably a disk to install this sort of thing along with instructions.
My old burner used Adapetec CD Burner and my new one uses Music Match.

The cd burner I installed came with a program to burn an entire CD, data to data CD, music cd, make an audio CD, I am sure you have the capability also.

A great program is Easy CD Creator 5. Check you local library to see if they have it i their software collection.
