Peanut's being evicted!!!

He/She just does not want to come out!! I'm STILL 1 cm at 40w4d. We're scheduled for induction on Sunday night - to deliver, as my OB says 'hopefully, Monday'. Hopefully?!?!
I'll be 11 days overdue next Monday - still praying to go on my own in the next 6 days (that's why we picked Sunday night).

Peanut's *estimated* weight today is :::gulp:::
9 pounds, 10 ounces!!!!!!!!

Cindy, Maria and Camille will probably all have their babies before me....

MAJOR Labor Vibes needed here, ladies!!!!!!

From Parenthood.com:

This brings me, finally, to an answer to your question about how to get labor started in natural ways. The most obvious way to encourage labor to start is to be loving and sexual with each other, including intercourse. The semen contains prostaglandins and the sexual stimulation will increase oxytocin release and thus encourage more contractions. This doesn't always work, but if labor is really due to begin soon, anyway, it may be enough to start the process going. One important warning, though! If the bag of waters is broken or you suspect that it is leaking, nothing should enter the v@gina and you should contact your midwife or doctor immediately. Another way to encourage labor to begin is to take long walks. Gravity brings the baby down against the cervix, which encourages the uterus to contract.

There are some people who recommend various herbs which are reported to cause contractions. I don't personally feel that these are a great idea. I respect herbs as potent pharmacological agents and feel that they have not been studied in the manner they deserve. As with any drug, there may be negative consequences of their use and/or side effects which we don't understand because of this lack of scientific testing.

Castor oil is reported to be sometimes effective in starting labor, but is a fairly unpleasant experience. It causes severe diarrhea and cramping, which seems to somehow stimulate the sympathetic contraction of the uterus, as well as the bowel, since they are both made of a type of muscle tissue called smooth muscle. It may also cause vomiting. Some midwives and doctors have expressed concern that it may also increase the risk of meconium passage by the fetus, but no good studies have been done to test this hypothesis. In addition to being an unpleasant experience, it frequently doesn't work to cause labor. I suggest that you discuss this option with your midwife or doctor before trying it if you are interested in this approach.

My best advice is to go for a long romantic walk, preferably under a full moon, holding hands and saying loving things to each other, then go home and make love in a fashion which provides maximal sexual excitement for the woman and deposits semen in the v@gina. You have nothing to lose, and it may even get the labor started.

Oh Kathi!!! Well, there's going to be a full moon on Sunday, so they say that during a full moon, babies are born!! During the new moon is when everybody acts wacky!!

I'm crossing my fingers and toes that Peanut makes his/her appearance before then!!!!

At the rate Peanut is growing, you'll have to change his/her name to Walnut!! (I'm thinking of a big nut, sorry!!! )
