I heard that it's bad luck for a bride to wear pearls on her wedding day. However, my mom bought me a pearl necklace and I wanted to wear a simple pair of my white pearl earrings to coordinate. Would you do it if you were me?

I never heard of that before either. In fact, I know that 3 of my friends have worn pearls on their wedding day and they are all still happily married if that makes you feel better!

I have never heard that before either. I thought most brides wear pearl. I will not be because I personally do not like them.

I wore the pearl necklace my mother bought me for my wedding day, and I borrowed her pearl earrings. I also wore a pearl bracelet my IL's gave me as a wedding gift.

Really!?!?! I was planning on wearing pearls... my dress is so simple, I don't want anything shiny or shimmery as jewlery. Well, I am not going to be superstitious... i think i am going to stick with my pearls!

I think it's just an old wives tale/superstition. I originally wanted to wear dangling earrings, but my mom said she thought it would be nice to keep the jewelry simple so that it doesn't overpower me.

I remember reading this during my many searches for wedding traditions and superstitions last year as I planned my wedding: Wearing a pearl(s) on the wedding day means bad luck and tears throughout the marriage.
But, I chose to have a necklace made for me with Swarovski crystals and Baroque pearls. Honestly, there were so many other superstitions that I had broken already...like registering for knives- which supposedly is bad luck because sharp and pointed objects are said to be a bad choice for wedding gifts for this will lead to a broken marriage.

I'm wearing pearls on my wedding day. . . they are my favorite So I say hogwash and go for it. . . life and marriage are what you make of them. . . pearl or no pearl! YEAH PEARLS!! (I hearby nominate myself official pearl cheerleader . . . a good pearl can't be bad!)

I'm wearing pearls, superstitions be damned. Besides, my birthday is in June, which makes pearls my birthstone!!! How am I NOT supposed to wear them??!!
I also heard another superstition that pearls keep you from crying on your wedding day because they absorb the tears!!! So it goes both ways!!!

Every time someone tells me something is 'bad luck' I just tell them that my FH and I don't need luck...Whether or not a marriage works isn't a result of good or bad luck, it's about the effort you put into it!!
