I went for BM dresses today and they are charging a $35 rush charge for my May 29th wedding. The site of the designer for the dresses says it's a 10 week order.
They rushed me for my bridal gown in August for a May 2010 wedding. I wound up winning a $2500 gift certificate towards a gown at Kleinfeld 2 weeks later. I knew I'd have that chance but they went on about rush fees etc which pressured me.
I really don't like that tactic. Any good or bad experiences with them? And, do they really need to charge a rush fee for a May 29 wedding for BM dresses in January?

Re: Peeved at Bridal Reflections
I had a problem with my dress people too at Paradise Bridals, and a person who used to work in the industry told me that it should only take 2wks to a month after they put the order in to recieve the dresses back. When I confronted these people with this info they were like OH Sh**! And now my dress is sitting there in storage for free.

I have never, ever heard of anywhere, save David's Bridal, who routinely received dresses that quick.

Not sure where the information regarding that short amoutn of time is coming from but I can tell you from working at a bridal store in the past that the stores are charged a rush fee based on the manufacturers policies. If they are charged a fee, then they have to charge you a fee. 10 weeks is a very short amount of time and I know for a fact that not every designer can guarantee that their dresses can be made and shipped in that amount of time.

I've never been to BR, but my sister forbade me from going as they were not nice to her when she was dress shopping. Before I even got engaged, she told me she wouldn't let me go there...

And FWIW, I got my dress at BR and it was lovely and came in two months early.

Re: Peeved at Bridal Reflections
We had a major problem with the BM dresses for my sister's wedding at BR.
One of the BM dresses had a huge iron burn on it..as in a huge brown imprint in the shape of an iron on the skirt (2 piece gown). They said they'd fix it and they put in another panel which was a COMPLETELY different color..as in the BM dresses were periwinkle, the front of her dress was now turquoise.
in the end they managed to fix it, but it was such a bad experience and instead of being apologetic about it, they were pretty rude and not at all sensitive to the stress we were under with this issue just a short time before the wedding.

Re: Peeved at Bridal Reflections
I know nothing about Bridal Reflections' ordering policies, but when the BMs ordered dresses for my wedding last August, I was told to get the order in no later than January in order to receive the dresses by June.
Depending upon where the dresses are manufactured, there may be a delay because of the Chinese New Year holiday this month.

with me I didn't feel pressured but I was given a discount on my wedding gown. It was a signifcant discount. They told me I can only give the discount fo 24 hours. I knew it was the dress but I didn't like being told you have to book in 24 hours or else.

That happened to me at two other bridal salons, but not BR.
I guess the most important lesson to learn here, ladies, for those of you who do not have your dresses yet, is just trust your judgement. Apparently you can have a $hitty experience anywhere.

I have a post in the 2010 forum about BR. I've had issues with them too. Maybe try going elsewhere and getting an estimate?

I think it's prob the manufacturer of the dress's rule/fee because I just got my BM dresses from BR and my wedding is earlier than yours and there was no rush fee.
