I have read that they are out of season in November when I am getting married .... but does anyone know if it is POSSIBLE to get them?
I really love the white ones ... I think I'd want to do them in my BOK and also for my CPs!

I think peonies are in season in May (I could def be wrong!!!!), but you can get them in Nov, they will just be expensive bc they will have to be shipped in. They are so gorgeous! Good choice!

Nothing is impossible, even if they are out of season here, they are IN season somewhere, but they will be $$$$

Re: Peonies?
I was hoping that the cost might balance out since I was originally going to do high CPs with a lot of roses .... so since you would need less peonies to make it as full, maybe it wouldn't increase the cost too much? Does that make any sense?
I just came up with the idea tonight, so I will have to call my florist and see what he says!
ETA: I just didn't want to 'bother' my florist if you girls had already looked into it and it wasn't possible!

similar for me - i got married nov 4th and thought that peonies might be cheaper than orchids, but my florist said it was pretty much impossible to even get peonies at that time and even if he did get them that it would be ridiculously expensive (more expensive than my orchids, which says a lot).

Actually, I've heard that peonies are pretty much impossible when they're out of season. They don't grow in very many places, and you can't force them like you can bulbs or flowering branches. There are other places in the world where they're in season ohter than May/June, but, it's very limited. Your florist isn't lying to you.
They are beautiful, beautiful flowers. I'm getting married in June, and I'm thinking about them, except that they're still expensive, even when in season. Unless I get them out of my sister's garden! Then they're free. She has many beautiful peonies, but I'm not sure if they'll be blooming by June 3rd, so I can't depend on them. Roses it is!

Thanks for the info .... I've been really undecided about my flowers and loved the peonies I saw today .... very disappointing that they're not in season.

Re: Peonies?
Ranunculus can often be small, while peonies are usually pretty large. Also, I think ranuculus bruise easily. You want a flower that will last through the night.
I'm most likely doing my own flowers, and will probably be ordering through freshroses.com, as I've heard very good things about them. They have a chart of seasonability by month--I'm not suggesting that you order from them, but it could help you see which flowers are easily available to florists in November:

Thanks for the site, that was really helpful!
Unfortunately I'm not falling in love with anything. I may have to just stick with roses ..... I was hoping to find something more out of the ordinary. I don't really care for calla lilies.

Re: Peonies?
I too wanted Peonies for my wedding but they are out of season. One florist told me that she could do silk peonies, and she showed me pictures of a wedding where she used silk flowers. They looked pretty damn good. You can always ask your florist if they can do that or even just a few.
good luck!

Those are lovely pictures! I don't really like calla lilies either.
That's what I'm planning on having--a large bunch of hand-tied Vendela roses. They're a beautiful cream color. The ones you show there might very well be Vendela. It's not the most adventurous, but they're classic and beautiful. What are your wedding colors? I'm going to have my MoH with Sahara (peachy-beige) roses, and my bridesmaids with pale yellow roses. I'm going to tie each with different colors of vintage ribbons. Going to have fun with that, I love ribbon. The tables will have an arrangement of cream, champagne, and Sahara roses, with yellow spray roses mixed in.

I got married end of July and wanted them but my florist said they wont hold up as well as roses.
I do wish I would have gotten them because in reality you dont show your Bo-k for too long.
