Yesterday, most people got my invitations in the mail. This morning one of my co-workers comes over to me and tells me how beautiful it is and thank you for inviting him. Then he asks me, so, can I bring my children? Now, he has 3, all under the age of 8....why would he want to bring them? I also don't know his children and the invite was addressed Mr. & Mrs. I panicked because some children are invited, but only family...I said, 'well it was addressed to the adults only'...he said 'ok, just wondering' and then I felt bad after. I mean, I don't have anything against kids, I'm a teacher for Christ's sake, but I don't really want unidentified children wandering around my party. How would you have handled this?

No- people are supposed to assume that children are NOT invited.
DOn't feel bad- sounds like you handled it well.

ITA!!!! If you wanted them to bring their children, you would have written Mr. & Mrs. John Doe and FAMILY!!!!

I just don't understand the cahones (sp.?) on some people. The invitation is to the people that it is addressed to...not those people and their kids and the long lost cousin that you just got in touch with and blah blah blah...makes me want to

i swear, if someone asks me to bring their kids, I might lose it!
It's written clear as day on the invite, some people just have to be annoying.

You would have addressed it to The Doe Family if you wanted his little ones to come! The only people who get to bring little ones already know that they're the exceptions. ***? Why don't people get it?

Cause people are rude!!! I've come to the conclusion that when it comes to weddings that people lose their minds and their manners!!! I've already had this done to me and my invites haven't gone out yet!!!

Dont feel bad!! TRUST ME!! You will get a lot of that... I think everyone that got children ASKED!!! But we can only accomodate a few... 'MY 2 NEPHEWS and NIECE!!' They are the pride and joy of me and FH lives...

don't feel bad, its not like its family. I find it funny that most people don't know invite etiquette, that if your kids name isn't on it, they aren't invited! or if it doesn't say 'and guest' your not invited with one!
