What do you do when someone RSVP's with an uninvited date? Do you tell them sorry but NO? Or just shut up and smile?
I'm going to start setting $100 bills on fire! Might as well since I am paying for people I dont even know to eat at my wedding

Re: People Bringing Uninvited Guests
This only happened to us with a few guests, so we let it slide
Plus one of them had to bail before our final payment anyway

If your on a budget that does not allow guest to come. Simply pick up the phone and make the call. I would if I was on your shoes.

Re: People Bringing Uninvited Guests
How close are you to them? Do you know they have a significant other? Are they coming from OOT?
I didn't have a general rule on this except if you lived in NY and I don't know your sig other then there is no excuse.
My mom's aunt asked me to invite her daughter (I don't know her, my mom barely does) then she added an additional person to her RSVP. They are family so I let it slide.

Re: People Bringing Uninvited Guests
We haven't had anyone actually respond this way yet (a couple of people who were not invited with a guest called to ask about bringing one and since they were FH friends, he had to deal with it - he told them sorry, no random dates). Also, since FH is in charge of the RSVPs (his one wedding related responsiblity), he will have to call the people who respond with an uninvited guest if anyone does that (so glad I don't have to deal if it does happen!)

Wait til you get Crashers showing up at the reception and No shows. But you can't let those things bother you, just smile and take it like a champ! Not everyone knows about proper ettiquette and to try and 'school' them on it will just burn bridges.

Re: People Bringing Uninvited Guests
I've been feeling a bit of anxiety cause we sent out our invites just last week and we already had two people (who r single) asking why we only reserved 1 seat for them. FH and I are paying for everything and had to be veerrryyy careful about our # of guests.

Re: People Bringing Uninvited Guests
i don't even understand why people have the audacity to ask this question. if you were not invited with a guest, then take the invite at face value, if you don't like the idea of going by yourself, then you have the right to say no! but don't ask to invite someone and certainly don't tack onsomeone to your rsvp when they weren't invited! you don't the the financial/political situation behind the reasoning on who to invite.

I'm doing the same... What can you do tho? I attempted (by not giving ANYONE a guest unless they are engaged, married, or living together) However this PISSED alot of people off, & I'm not spending a few grand on people I've never met

Re: People Bringing Uninvited Guests
Just tell them no, if they don't like it then they don't have to come!
I am only saying this because we had one guest (one of FH's friends for years) agree a year ago to come to our wedding to watch our son for the day and bring him back to the hotel at night. She agreed a year ago. Just her, watching my son. Don't bring a gift, just come to the wedding to watch Jimmy.
Anyway, fast forward to 2 weeks ago (6 weeks before the wedding) she calls FH and tells him she has a date for our wedding, and she can't wait to bring him! (one of her flavors of the week). My FH told her ,no, you are supposed to watch Jimmy. She gets all pissed and says if she cant bring a date, then she can't be our 'nanny' for the day and to get a new one.
At this point, oh well, don't like it then don't come. My wedding is not a meet and greet for you and your new fling.
We got a new 'nanny' for the day.

Re: People Bringing Uninvited Guests
I had a college roommate do this (we actually knew the guy from college as well and was debating whether or not to invite him). It worked out bc we are a few under our minimum but we thought we'd be over. I'd say wait until you get closer to your final numbers and then decide what to do.
