We're already way under our minimum, so I guess I shouldn't complain. But we've already had 4 people cancel in the last 48 hours. Worst of all, FHs parents are making a big deal about us having to pay for people who won't be there (because we're under our min) and it's their family who are not coming and canceling.

i had five cancellations a week before the wedding. i think it just comes with the territory. There is not much you can do! trust me you won't notice it the day of the wedding. enjoy your day and don't worry about it!

I had the complete opposite happen. After we called in our final count...the day BEFORE the wedding I got an rsvp in the mail from friends of the family (out of towners) that had 5 people on it!!! I was PIISSEEDD! So I went and paid for 5 extra people, I didnt know what else to do because they were from out of town and coming. And then they DIDNT EVEN SHOW

I just had 2 cancel today, after we just paid our balance.
Oh well. It was a work-related issue (sudden business trip to CA) so I understand, but it's still a bummer.

yeah I had a bunch of cancellations too which was just a bummer bc we fought so hard to keep our list small and would have invited other folks. . we did invited some people last minute but others we felt like we couldnt. . as far as paying. . I figure. . hey we were going to pay the money wether they were there or not. . and while in some ways it's paying for nothing. . in other ways. I ended up paying the same for a wedding as I would have and had the same good time. . . so no detraction. .esp if they already gave you a gift then they just didn't get a meal!!!

One of them is FH's uncle. He is old and not in the greatest shape, so I completely understand. However they knew this months ago and could have told us before we got our final count in. Also, now his daughter and her husband aren't coming so they can stay with him while FHs aunt comes to the wedding. The other is FH's brother in law. His mom was supposed to watch FH's 2 nephews (one is autistic and the wedding really isn't the place for him). Well his Mom now all of the sudden can't watch the kids, so he has to stay home. I am sure more will come in. It's not really about the money at this point, it's just the fact that people I think are being rude about it. And now that there have been cancellations FIL are trying to ADD people to the list. FH had to put his foot down and tell them the place cards are already printed and we aren't rearranging tables.
