are you inviting anyone to the ceremony only when you are having your ceremony at the same place as your reception? we weren't doing this but a friend of my grandmothers asked where we were getting married because she would love to see the ceremony. it really didn't bother me at all. actually i was flattered but i've never seen or done this before. anyone else?

Re: People Coming to the Ceremony Only?
I know that sometimes at my church if a member gets married some church people may just go to see the ceremony... I have heard of it a couple times... I guess some people just like to see the ceremony even though they aren't actually invited to the wedding... I would also be flattered if someone showed up to my ceremony that I didn't invite...

Re: People Coming to the Ceremony Only?
A few of my friends from school asked the same thing - i'm ok with it - they understand that i am limited in space - but still want to be part of my special day as a witness

Re: People Coming to the Ceremony Only?
See, I have tons of students who keep asking if they can come and see me get married, and I don't know what to tell them because we are getting married at the mansion, and I don't know how to go about having them there. I would LOVE to have them there, though. I'm even contemplating finding somewhere else to have the ceremony because so many of my students and their parents have asked me this and I really want them there!

Re: People Coming to the Ceremony Only?
My co-worker's daughter got married last year. Some of the women went to the church to witness the ceremony. I had never heard of it before then.

Re: People Coming to the Ceremony Only?
I didn't invite that way, but my best friend's parents had to leave after only the ceremony and cocktail hour. Their god-daughter was getting married later that same day, and they had to go! My friend was in our BP so he stayed. I was just glad they were able to come for the ceremony.

My FI and I went to btrflygrl's ceremony at Timberpoint where she had her reception also. We left right after the ceremony.

Re: People Coming to the Ceremony Only?
My best friend got married 2 years ago...and my mom and sister went to the church to see the ceremony but they were not invited to the reception. I think it would be harder if you are having the ceremony at the hall though...because people can't stay around and mingle with you and your guests go to the cocktail hour.

Re: People Coming to the Ceremony Only?
I think its fine and very nice. Plus, if people don't show, you can ask that woman to stay and not feel bad about paying for people that didn't show.
