People getting Ordained

I just asked my Uncle to marry us. SOOOO excited!!!!
I have heard that not all places online are 'officail' in the eyes of the State, does anyone have the names that are or even aren't so I know where he can go online to do it?
Thank you soo much!!!

My cousin got ordained online jsut to marry us!
We called up the town clerk and aked if it'd be legit b/c it didn't seem real (it seriously took 3 minutes), and he gave us the same site......he even said that's where all the town clerks get ordained!

Universal Life Church

ULC.org

My cousin married us and we turned in the marriage certificate with no problems at all!!!

My Dad also got ordained so he can marry my brother in April!

And this book will help you write your ceremony...

The Wedding Ceremony Planner by Rev Judith Johnson

We picked out our whole ceremony from that book!!! Its FANTASTIC!!

Definitely check with your marriage license office...DH's sister got ordained (and i think it was Universal Life Church) and it was NOT one of the accepted ones (ETA: by our particular town office)...GRRR...so what we did was have his sister perform the majority of the ceremony, and our Town Clerk came & did what was necessary to make it all legal...but talk about stressing out for awhile!

I am not doubting it is accepted...but i think for us the Town of Southampton is a bunch of picky PITAs that don't accept it...that's the only reason i caution to make sure!! When we saw it on the list as NOT accepted we looked at each other like...crap...now what??

so what do you girls suggest for those of us who are intending to have a friend or family member become ordained in order to officiate our weddings?

Call your town hall where you'll be filing your certificate. ULC.org worked for me- I had absolutely no problems!!!!!

If you live in Nassau then do I call Hempstead or the town hall that I live in?

I'd call wherever you plan on applying for your license. I got married in St. James, but I filed everything in Islip- so thats who I called.
